Virtual reality

Virtual reality completely hides the real environment. In contrast to augmented reality, you only see the virtual 3D environment. You can walk around it, look in all directions and grab virtual things.

You need a VR headset to experience virtual reality apps. For example the Meta Quest or the Valve Index. These glasses display the 3D world and use tracking to determine your position. Because only with the right tracking you can move properly in the virtual world.

Controllers are widely used for interacting with the virtual world. The headset tracks the positions of the controllers. By pressing one of the buttons the user can do specific actions. Many headsets also support hand gestures. Objects can be manipulated directly with hands without needing any controller.
